We are female owned and run and believe in supporting Canadian businesses, not unlike our own, so it was imperative that we only use materials sourced from other Canadian businesses.
Hi, we're Nickole and Madison, founders of Birchwood Candle House! We met in the early months of 2020 at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic on a super weird socially distant date. Fast forward to the end of 2020, we moved in together and started our life and our business from our home. We're now engaged and have moved our company from our basement apartment in Newmarket to a full workshop in Vaughan.
The idea for Birchwood Candle House was born on a walk with our dog Zoë. Our original plan was to make candles as Christmas gifts for friends and family. Combining our backgrounds in graphic design and product development (and after a lot of trial and error) we were able to figure out the art of candle making and decided to turn our hard work into a business.

Our candles are made with 100% soy wax hand poured in small batches, free of paraffin wax, palm wax and dyes to create a more natural candle.
Sustainability and environmental consciousness are also important to us; therefore, we only use hand-crafted wooden wicks and eco-cotton wicks. Our packaging along with our jars and bags are all reusable and recyclable too!
Our goal is, and will continue to be, to create the most natural, clean burning candle in the most environmentally friendly way while staying true to our brand and supporting other Canadian businesses.
